Fairy tale made in Bavaria! Let's explore the ultimate fairly tale and magical castles built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria who has long achieved cult status. The castles are nestled in breathtaking sourroundings of the Bavarian Alps. I'm still thrilled by the beauty of nature and architecture and would love to share my knowledge of history, legends, myth and reality built around this tragic monarch.

Neuschwanstein Castle - inspired Walt Disney

Duration: 8 - 10 hours
A full-day excursion to visit Neuschwanstein castle, the most well-known of all Bavarian Castles built by Ludwig II, the Bavarian Fairy-tale king. Neuschwanstein is included in the range of the most popular sights of interest in Germany, errected from 1868 in the style of old German Knight's fortresses and located high in the mountains. The interiour focus on the themes of German legends and musical dramas by Richard Wagners, the beloved composer of Ludwig II. Continuation to the pilgrimige church "Wies" where the art of rococo has reached a unique state of absolute perfection. 
  • The most beautiful and scenic way to the castle leads off the main road through a gorge along the rushing Pöllat river.
  • For hiking enthusiasts, i recommend the trail in the footsteps of the King's Mother Marie over the Marienbrücke bridge up to the Tegelberg. Gigantic views of the castle, but stamina and surefootedness are required.
  • Combine the visit to Neuschwanstein Castle with Linderhof Castle or Hohenschwangau Castle
  • Return via Oberammergau, the famous village of the Passion Plays. View the local craft of wood-carving and stroll along the main street with countless souvenir shops before we head back to Munich.

Linderhof Palace - his favourite royal villa

Duration: 8 - 10 hours
Linderhof palace, the royal villa built in the style of rococo is located in a most beautiful setting surrounded by a vast landscape park. Neuschwanstein and Herrenchiemsee remained unfinished, Linderhof, entirely completed was the favourite retreat where the unhappy Kind spent most of his time. The impressive park offers many places of interest like an artifical grotto constructed as an auditorium for Wagner's operas. The latest technical improvement were needed to meet the King's most elaborate expectations. Time to shop and browse in Oberammergau, the picturesque site of the Passion Plays. On the way back visit to Ettal, a Benedictine Abbey founded in the 14th century.

Herrenchiemsee - a replica of Versailles

Duration: 8 - 10 hours
After a very scenic ride along the Alps we reach lake Chiemsee, the largest Bavarian lake. A steamer takes us over to the island for a visit to Herrenchiemsee Palace. Ludwig II fervently adored Louis XIV, the french "sun king" and his absolutistic power and copied Versailles palace as a Temple of Fame. The main highlight is the Great hall of Mirrors being even larger then the original!
Then continue by boat to Frauenchiemsee island. Visit the nonnery and Münster church, have a look into tiny handicraft shops offering pottery try a freshly smoked trout or enjoy the plenty cafés and beergardens.
